2025 Summer Doubles Tournament

The format is subject to change depending on who signs up over a 2 week registration window from May 19-31. We will initially have 2 registration brackets for Women or Men Doubles teams (no mixed). You can select your partner at registration. Brackets will be established based on the GPN rating or at the discretion of the admins (2.0-3.0, 3.0-3.5).
The tournament will be a round robin format playing each team at least once (best 3 out of 5, games to 11, win by 2). It will run from June 2- to Aug 2 if needed (depending on the number of teams in each bracket). Matches would be scheduled by the 2 teams for date/time each week at CFGC if possible and scores are entered by the winning team into GPN. If there are conflicts, a week could be skipped.
After the round robin matches are completed, a single elimination championship with a 3rd place consolation match will be played (if enough teams are in the bracket). The top 2 or 4 teams from each bracket will be selected for the playoffs using the number of wins, then head-to-head and finally total points won. We are considering having the championship games for each bracket played at the same time so spectators in the club can watch. Then have medal presentations at the end for 1st, 2nd and possibly 3rd.
If there are not enough teams within a rating group to do a round robin format (ie. 4.0 only has 2 teams) after registration is completed, then the teams that signed up for that bracket will be removed to keep the playing field level.
