30wHello everyone,
GACA received this email from the City announcing the public consultation for the expansion of the outdoor François Dupuis Park. The plan shows 2 Pickleball courts to be shared with Tennis players.
You will also note that beside the proposed pickleball/tennis courts there is a place holder for two additional courts. GACA is going to propose that all the courts be built at the same time (4 courts in all) based on the popularity of the sport and the long waiting lists.
We are asking as many people as possible to fill out the survey below. This is the only time where we can pressure our Councillor to budget for at least the 4 courts. There is a box where you can have your feedback to request for Pickleball courts.

1yIf everyone who signed up for this evening shows up, we’ll be 8! One player couldn’t sign up on time. See you there!

1yHello Todd,
The GACA has been trying for the past four years to get the surface repaved but we were told it is not on the city's scheduled maintenance plan and won't be for another few years.
Your idea of a petition is a great one but I am not sure if it will be enough to get it done. I have been in contact with our Councillor Catherine Kitts (our Councillor) and she is aware of the situation.
Any help from the community members would be appreciated. Anyone willing to help out can communicate with me at (email hidden) and together we can discuss strategy.
Have a great day,
Rachelle

1y[Thinking of sending a message to our councillor simliar to below to try to get surfaced repaved]. Maybe we can get some sort of petition going?]
Subject: Request for Resurfacing of Vista Park Pickleball Court
Dear Councillor Luloff,
I hope this message finds you well. My name is Todd and I am a small business owner in our ward. I recently began playing pickleball, a sport that has quickly become one of the fastest-growing worldwide. Since I started playing in July, I’ve seen our local group expand significantly, doubling from 300 to over 600 members in just a few months.
One of the primary locations where we play is the outdoor hockey rink at Vista Park. Unfortunately, the pavement there is in extremely poor condition, presenting a major injury risk for those of us who use the court. In addition, the uneven surface affects the quality of play, as the ball bounces unpredictably.
Given the rapid growth of pickleball in our community and the safety concerns posed by the current surface, I kindly request that the court at Vista Park be resurfaced. A surface similar to the one recently completed at Gardenway Park would greatly benefit our group and ensure that everyone can enjoy the game safely and to its fullest.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Todd

1yIt looks like rain tomorrow. Would anyone be interested playing on Sun. If so suggest a time and I will send the invitation if enough people are interested.

4yIf you'd like to organize your own events at Vista Park and invite the GACA network, please register with Rachelle to get a key. We'll add you to the "Vista Park key holders" group which will let you schedule events (play time) and invite people.
