ROUGE WOODS Leagues (Sat & Sun)

Pickleball Ladder League

Registration
Description

We run ladder leagues on Saturday and Sunday mornings at Rouge Woods Community Centre. The Saturday morning league is run on behalf of the City of Richmond Hill and all participants sign up in advance for the 7-week session. Participants who were able to secure a spot in the league are able to play each week but we are not able to allow subs to participate at this time.

The Sunday Ladder Leagues are also pre-registered leagues that guarantee players weekly play. Unlike the Saturday leagues, subs can participate in the Sunday morning ladder leagues when spots are available. See the events page.

We reserve the right to remove or reassign players if their skill rating does not meet the requirements of the session they register in.

Games are "first" to 11 points when there are five players assigned to a court. If there are four players assigned to a court, the game with the closest score is to be replayed. If two games end with the the highest score, the first one played is to be replayed. YOU MUST CALL OUT THE SCORE BEFORE EACH SERVE.. Line calls must be made immediately, kitchen violation, service foot faults, kitchen violations, 2 bounce rule even on the first serve if it hits receiver's partner. NO EXCEPTIONS, NO SURPRISES!

To participate in this league, you must pre-register and pay. This secures your spot for the entire session. Registration for the Saturday Ladder League at Rouge Woods is only available through the City's RH Active Website.

Can we please have more Sundays drop in for C level players?

How do I add myself to the Sub/Alternate list for Rouge Woods C division for Saturdays?

Oct 6. Someone left a Franklin paddle (Green and Black color) at Rouge Wood today. Please connect with me to reclaim.
Thanks, Danny

We are using the ELO system to rank players. All players receive 1500 points, and they earn or lose points each week based on there a lower ranked player beats a higher ranked player, they earn up to 32 points from the higher ranked player. We noticed that players rankings were preserved if they did not play so we implemented a -15 point penalty if a player misses a week, the system will automatically send out a warning.

ELO Explained
A player’s ELO rating is represented by a number which increases or decreases depending on the outcome of games between rated players. After every game, the winning player takes points from the losing player. The difference between the ratings of the winner and loser determines the total number of points gained or lost after a game. In a series of games between a high-rated player and a low-rated player, the high-rated player is expected to score more wins. If the high-rated player wins, then only a few rating points will be taken from the low-rated player. However, if the lower rated player scores an upset win, many rating points will be transferred (the larger the gap between the player’s ratings, the more the resulting player rating will fluctuate). This means that this rating system is self-correcting. A player whose rating is too low should, in the long run, do better than the rating system predicts, and thus gain rating points until the rating reflects their true playing strength.
