In this blog post, we'll delve into the intricacies of organizing and managing a pickleball challenge ladder, covering everything from setting it up to keeping participants engaged and excited.

Understanding the Basics

First things first, let's clarify what a pickleball challenge ladder is. Essentially, it's a group of players that compete against one another. The goal of a pickleball ladder is to reach the top by earning points which are awarded after playing matches.

Choose a Ranking System

Players' rankings are determined by their point totals, with points being allocated automatically following each match. GPN offers a selection of a ranking systems, allowing organizers to choose the most suitable method. For instance, opting for the "Custom Points" system enables precise control over the points awarded to players based on their performance.

Invite Players to Join

A challenge ladder is suitable for both singles and doubles play, offering versatility to accommodate different preferences. Once the ladder is created, send invitations to your friends to join in the excitement and competition.

Start the Ladder

The ladder operates on a continuous basis, meaning challenges can be issued and accepted at any time. Once a challenge is accepted, players schedule a match within a specified timeframe, usually within a week or two.

Submit Matches

After the match, any player has the option to submit the score, and the ladder is updated to reflect the outcome, with the winner moving up and the loser moving down accordingly.

Ladder Stats

Players can access ladder statistics at any point, enabling them to view metrics such as their time spent at the top spot, win-loss record, average rank, and the points awarded to them on a weekly basis.

Award Digital Trophies

At the end of your ladder, you can choose between a wide variety of digital trophies to award your players. You can even add an engraving to describe what it is for.

These trophies will be displayed on the player's profile pages.

Submit Matches to DUPR

At any time during your ladder, a ladder admin can submit matches to DUPR. However, remember that only matches where all participants have linked their accounts to DUPR can be submitted.

To ensure that only players with a connected DUPR account can register for your ladder, simply set the Playing Level System to DUPR.

Linking your account to DUPR is quick and straightforward. Simply navigate to your profile settings and click on the DUPR tab.

Once you've played some matches, the ladder admin can easily submit them to DUPR.
